End Alaska's Awful Aerial Wolf Killing Programs -- Support the PAW Act!

End Alaska's Awful Aerial Wolf Killing Programs -- Support the PAW Act!

Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

In 1971, Congress passed the Airborne Hunting Act banning the use of airplanes to hunt wolves. But the State of Alaska is exploiting a loophole that has allowed private citizens in aircraft to kill of hundreds of wolves annually under what's called "wildlife management."

Since 2003, the state's aerial killing programs have claimed the lives of more than 1,000 wolves. During the 2008/2009 aerial gunning season, more than 250 wolves were killed -- making it one the deadliest season in years!

Recently, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) introduced the Protect America's Wildlife (PAW) Act, federal legislation working to end the controversial practice of aerial wolf hunting in Alaska and prevent it from spreading to states in the lower 48. The introduction of PAW in the Senate marks a landmark opportunity to stop aerial hunting once and for all. Urge your Senator to support the PAW Act today.

I feel that it is important to make this pledge because, I find it disgraceful and a barbaric act to chase an animal to exhaustion and then kill it.

I believe that there is no need, to destroy wolves to artificially boost populations of moose and other game for sport. I would also like to point out the fact that wolves only hunt injured or sick animals within the herd and they only hunt to survive.

Also, if a predator is taken out of the ecosystem food chain then this can cause dramatic effects on the land, this may also result in an over population of prey herds, and Alaska's officials will be faced with an even bigger challenge.

I would also like to state that I am an European, who would like and many others in my country would like to visit wolves in the wild as we cannot see them in the wild at home due to out own mistakes in the past of whipeing them out. Though we are starting to bring them back.

If the wolf is no longer in alaska many of us will not visit. Therefore tourism profit will drastically go down.

I also find this senseless killing evil, How dare they try to control nature and try to control it for game. Wolves are a natural part of your landscape and trying to control the land is not your decision. This is the same amount of evil, that was on the subject of fox hunting in our country. Though we got it banned, and the population  of the red fox is still controllable with humane methods!.

Instead of turning to the gun and killing an innocent animal that wants to survive. Spend a little bit more money on humane methods that will protect the beautiful magestic animal that is the wolf.

Aerial Wolf Killing is the same sort of "hunting" as killing Buffalo from a train was in 1860!  Predators are needed.  Quit invading their traditional hunting grounds.
