Snares - How many more animals must die in agony before they are banned?

Snares are thin wire nooses that are set to trap any animal perceived to be a pest or threat. The primitive design of a snare silently garrotts its victims and often leads to a painful and lingering death. Commonly used by gamekeepers to catch foxes and stoats, many mammals including rabbits, voles, protected badgers and even domestic pets are caught, seriously injured and killed in snares. Find out more.

Snaring is banned in countries across Europe but is still legal in the UK. The League believes that snaring is terribly cruel, indiscriminate, and wholly unnecessary and are calling for a total ban on the manufacture, sale and use of all snares in the UK.

What are we doing? We want to see the law changed to outlaw the manufacture, sale and use of all snares.

We lobby parliament and the EU to bring an end to snaring.

Many people dont realise snares are still legal.

The League gets the facts out in reports and surveys.

What can you do?

Because just yesterday my poor cat had been in one of those traps for the third time but this time he has ended in an animal hospital with a dislocated ankle and very bad cuts and this is happening in my small village and it has to be stoped.

    Thankyou

Thanks for posting this.  I hate to think of these snares being hidden in the countryside of the United Kingdom.

Petition signed on site 'League Against Cruel Sports' and sent to Rt. Hon. Hilary Benn MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to urge him to end this silent killer in the countryside.
